Happy Wednesday readers! This week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starts out with May and Daisy attempting to get away from Hydra. Now that Daisy has her powers back the pair makes quick work of the Hydra agents before running into Aida. Daisy and Aida get into a fight that results in Daisy breaking Aida’s back and May and Daisy making a quick getaway. Aida, still alive but unable to do much to help Hydra in her current state, asks Fitz to get to work on finishing Project Looking Glass.
Aida appears back in the real world while her Framework body is recovering and meets up with Ivanov. Simmons and Triplett go to investigate the Russian oil platform that Triplett found plans for on his mission. Simmons believes that the platform is where Aida may be hiding the Project. When the two arrive, there is nothing on the platform. From this discovery, Simmons is able to ascertain that the Project was built on this platform in the real world and that Aida has used the Darkhold’s power to connect the Project to the Framework and also allow Aida to go back and forth to her body in the real world.
Meanwhile, Coulson and the others are having a hard time recovering from the death of Mace. Things seem tense between the other agents and something is needed to bring them back together. While finding their way back to the group, May tells Daisy about what happened to Mace and reveals that that is the reason why she decided to join up with S.H.I.E.L.D. Once the pair rejoins the group, May hands over some footage to Coulson from her body cam that Coulson then projects to the world to try to mitigate some of the support that Hydra has from the people and bring morale back up to the team.
Daisy and Ward have a frank discussion about their relationship and Daisy tells Ward that she cannot separate the idea of the Ward from her world with the one in the Framework. Ward then tries to convince Daisy that he is not the same person and confesses to her that he hopes when she leaves the Framework that he gets his older Daisy back. The episode then ends with the broadcast of Coulson spreading the truth about Hydra and finishes off the telecast by saying that he is not just a teacher, but an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In conjunction with the first few episodes of the season, things are getting better and better as the second half of this season of S.H.I.E.L.D. goes on. I am glad that some of the characters are coming back to themselves and realizing that there is more to the current world that meets the eye. At the same time, it is also nice that Fitz has not yet come back to the team. It seems incredibly unrealistic that all of the characters would believe that things were not what they seemed and someone as smart and accomplished as this version of Fitz is a dangerous person to be on Hydra’s side. Now that Aida has finally divulged her plans for Project Looking Glass and the Framework, it is important that the agents work fast to stop her from getting what she wants. Considering that the Project appears to mostly be in the real world, I am curious to see if they will have to find some way back to take Aida down or if there is something inside the Framework that will help them instead.
