Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “BOOM”

Happy Wednesday readers! Megan_Highwind back again this week with my musings on this week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The episode starts with Coulson sitting at a cafe in Spain while talking to Mack via communicator. Coulson reveals to Mack that he is willing to do anything to get Agent May back. At that moment a woman looking just like Aida appears at the cafe. It turns out that this woman is the real life version of the Aida LMD that has been helping Radcliffe.

Both Coulson and Mack confront the woman, Agnes, and ask her what her relationship to Radcliffe is. Although hesitant to tell them, Agnes finally lets the pair know that Radcliffe is her ex-boyfriend who left her when he found out that she had terminal cancer. After some convincing, Agnes agrees to meet with Radcliffe and trick him into giving up his location so that Coulson and Mack can find May. While Agnes is waiting at the meeting location, however, Radcliffe calls her and tells her to come find him nearby. Radcliffe is able to convince Agnes to come with him by promising her eternal life before Coulson and Mack can reach them.

During this time one of the Watchdogs, Shockley, goes to Senator Nadeer’s office to release a piece of the terrigen crystal into the air. He does this believing that Nadeer will turn into an Inhuman and then can be taken out of the picture for good. This backfires, however, when the crystal explodes and Shockley is cocooned as Nadeer’s brother was. Nadeer, believing she had won, begins to celebrate before the whole building explodes. Nadeer dies in the explosion. It is then brought to light that Shockley is actually the one who turned into an Inhuman and is a human bomb that caused the building to explode.

Daisy and her team bring Shockley into the S.H.I.E.L.D. ship to see what he knows about the explosion. As they are not yet aware that he is the reason the building exploded, they keep him in a room inside of the ship. Fitz and Simmons, upon figuring out the truth, run into the room and are able to take Shockley out of the area before he explodes again. Shockley then goes to find Anton and tells him that he has turned into an Inhuman. Before Anton kills him, Shockley pleads for a chance to redeem himself. Daisy goes after Shockley and tries to take him down while Mace uses the serum, that Simmons admits could potentially kill him, to keep the other Watchdogs at bay. Anton decides to forgo capturing anyone else and instead kidnaps Mace. The episode ends with Agnes dying at Radcliffe’s house while under the influence of the mind control that May is also under.

In general, I think that this week’s episode was pretty good. It definitely was not one of my favorites but again seems to be setting up for the fall finale in a few weeks. Things between Coulson and Radcliffe are becoming more and more strained and I cannot help but feel like it is going to come down to Coulson having the choice between killing Radcliffe or just locking him up. Also, now that the Watchdogs have Director Mace there is going to be divide between those that have to rescue Mace and those that are going to rescue May. Hopefully both can be saved, but with the serum taking more and more out of Mace it is a little hard to believe he will survive the whole ordeal.Overall, I am ready to see what next week’s episode has in store!
