Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Wake Up”

Hey everyone! This week’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. started off with Daisy, Talbot, and Mace going to a Senate hearing put together by Senator Nadeer. While the three are in the hearing, Coulson and YoYo attempt to break into Nadeer’s office to see if they can install surveillance cameras to try to catch Nadeer doing shady dealings against the Inhumans and in tandem with the Watchdogs. While they are trying to install the cameras, however, Nadeer captures them and decides to start a full investigation of S.H.I.E.L.D. based upon this. Talbot accuses Coulson of not listening to him and causing the pair to get captured, but Coulson shoots back and accuses Talbot of espionage which Talbot, of course, denies.

After May’s LMD discovered her robot insides last week, she goes to visit Radcliffe and confront him. Radcliffe then tells that LMD that she cannot tell S.H.I.E.L.D. anything about what Radcliffe wants her to do and she will not know what it is until the right time comes. The real May, meanwhile, is put inside a hallucination that she cannot help but try to escape. To remedy this, Radcliffe sticks her back in Bahrain. This was the city where May attempted to save a little girl but failed and has felt guilty for ever since. In order to keep her happy and sedated, Radcliffe changes they event so that May actually did save the little girl.

After LMD May and Radcliffe’s discussion, Coulson and the other agents break in and arrest Radcliffe. It turns out that Fitz was able to deduce that Radcliffe was behind Aida’s betrayal and is also the mole who is letting Nadeer know every move that the agents are going to make. While in containment, Fitz goes to visit Radcliffe and has a conversation with him. Something tips Fitz off and he shoots Radcliffe only to show the audience that Radcliffe himself was a LMD. It turns out the real Radcliffe is in hiding with Nadeer as he knew S.H.I.E.L.D. would be coming after him.

Finally, things heat up between Mack and YoYo before Mack hurries away after getting a mysterious text. YoYo tries to figure out Mack’s secret by asking Coulson, but Coulson says that he cannot tell her anything. Upon his return, YoYo confronts Mack to learn that he had a daughter that died when she was only 4 days old. As it was the anniversary of her birth, he was spending time with his ex-wife in this difficult time.

Overall, this week’s episode was definitely a bit on the slower side for the show and was one of my least favorite. That being said, I can see that they are trying to set things up for an explosive finale involving both Nadeer and Radcliffe coming full force at S.H.I.E.L.D. I can only assume that the LMD of May is going to be put into action soon to get the Darkhold  and give it to Radcliffe. If he gets his hands on that book it will be a lot on Coulson and the others to take him down so hopefully the group can figure things out before that happens. Also, I really hope that May is able to figure her way out of the simulation and make her way back to kick some serious tail for the winter finale in a few weeks!
