Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ” Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire”

Happy Wednesday everyone! Megan_Highwind here! This week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. started off with Simmons going to look at an apartment for her and Fitz to share. Upon reaching the apartment, however, Simmons is confronted by Daisy who asks for her help. Daisy is not only injured but is also on the hunt for the Watchdogs next target to stop them before they can kill any more Inhumans. With Simmons now being subjected to a lie detector test weekly, Daisy “threatens” her at gunpoint to ensure her assistance. The two use the monitoring device placed on the Inhumans to find the Watchdogs next target, Daisy’s old friend through Hive, James.

While Daisy and Simmons are on the hunt to help the Inhumans, Coulson makes a visit to Robbie Reyes uncle, Elias Morrow, to try to get some information on Momentum lab. Morrow is unwilling to give up any information to someone he does not know and Coulson leaves with Mack. Upon leaving the jail, Mack sees Reyes pulling up to the jail to speak to his uncle. Coulson, Mack, and Reyes end up in a car chase where Reyes ends up crashing and being taken aboard S.H.I.E.L.D.’s airship.

Coulson convinces Reyes to go talk to his uncle to try to get the information that Coulson was unable to get himself. Morrow reveals that the group was studying the Darkhold, a book with great and hard to understand power. The only person to survive the explosion, Joseph, was put into a coma by Morrow for causing the explosion.

Simmons and Daisy go to find James and tell him about the situation with the Watchdogs. They then destroy his monitor and follow him out to a secret warehouse. The Watchdogs surprise the trio and James lets on that he is helping the Watchdogs destroy all Inhumans, including himself. Things are looking bad for Simmons and Daisy when Coulson, Mack, and Reyes appear to save the day! The three were alerted to the potential for trouble when James monitor turned off unexpectedly. The episode then ends with the group going to get May to help find the Darkhold and Simmons coming to the conclusion that Aida is a robot.

All in all, I enjoyed this week’s episode. With both the ghosts and the agents after the Darkhold it is only a matter of time before the two groups collide. With it being so easy for the ghosts to kill a person simply by passing through them, it may be hard to for the agents to fend off the threat. Simmons is going to be forced to tell a lot of lies in the coming weeks when she is subjected to the lie detector test at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. While I would like to think that she could lie well enough to not be discovered, I can only assume that things will not go as planned and the higher-ups in the agency will try to get involved and stop Coulson and the others. Things are definitely getting hotter and hotter for the agents as the Darkhold comes into focus as the new object to have. The coming weeks should be full of excitement, to say the least.
