Hi everyone! Megan_Highwind here. This week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. started off with Yo-Yo visiting Miami with some friends when a major blackout strikes. While Yo-yo is stuck in Miami, Reyes and Daisy are stuck in another similar blackout in Los Angeles. Reyes reveals to Daisy that he believes that in order to get rid of the Ghost Rider part of him he has to atone for his uncle, Elias, creating the ghosts that are currently terrorizing May.
Daisy goes with Reyes to save Reyes’ younger brother, Gabe, who is stuck in an awful part of town. They return to Reyes’ house after a fight with some bad guys trying to take advantage of Gabe. During the fight, Daisy breaks her arm and causes Reyes to go out and get some supplies to try and help her fix the bone. While Reyes is gone, Gabe asks Daisy to leave after finding out that she is Quake.
The attack on Miami, Los Angeles, and other cities seems to be taking place by a group of Inhumans who are fighting against the Sokovia Accords. However, upon Fitz, Coulson, and Mack going to help find Yo-yo the group realizes that the Watchdogs are actually the ones behind the attack. The Watchdogs were using an EMP to cause the blackouts and were backed by a Senator named Rota Needeer.
While all of this is going on, Simmons and Radcliffe are working to help save May before she succumbs to the fear caused by the ghost and dies. In order to help May, they have to kill her and bring her back to life so the ghost is able to leave her. They plan to revive May with a machine right after her heart stops beating. Unfortunately for Simmons and Radcliffe, the power goes out right as they are about to bring May back. Simmons is forced to give May CPR and May finally comes back to life. The episode ends with Jeffery Mace letting the public know that S.H.I.E.L.D. has come back in the hopes that the public will be willing to forgive all of the bad things that happened since the group returned power after taking the EMP away from the Watchdogs.
This week’s episode was a little slower than the last few have been, but it was definitely one that was setting things up for the rest of the season. With Daisy now on her own again, I am curious to see if Reyes comes after her. The two appear to be getting a stronger relationship as the season progresses so they are bound to run into each other more as things with the ghosts get progressively worse. Likewise, with S.H.I.E.L.D. back out in the open now, the public will undoubtedly be on edge. After everything that has happened with the Avengers it is only natural for things to be complicated. I also feel like it is only a matter of time until Jeffery Mace is outed as an Inhuman and, once that happens, I think it will be even harder for S.H.I.E.L.D. to keep people on their side.
