Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Spacetime”

Hello everyone! Megan_Highwind here! This week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. started with a homeless man named Charles being told Edwin,a man from a nearby store, that he was squatting too near his store and that he had to go elsewhere. Edwin touches Charles to try to give him some food money before he leaves and goes into a trance. Edwin then calls 911 and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents overhear the call that mentions both Hydra and Daisy and go to investigate.

Upon arriving at the scene, Daisy meets up with Edwin and Charles. Not soon after the agents arrive, a Hydra ship shows up and takes Charles away. While the ship is taking Charles, Daisy grabs his arm and sees a vision, just as Edwin had. The vision turns out to be scenes from the future and the agents decide to try to stop the future that Daisy sees from coming to pass. In order to prevent the impending doom in Daisy’s vision, Coulson decides to send May and the others to Hydra to try and save Charles, much to the disdain of Daisy.

Lincoln and Coulson find Charles’ wife, Polly, and bring her in to see what she knows about Charles. It turns out that Charles left Polly and his daughter a while ago because the visions were causing a rift in their marriage. Charles is not able to touch anyone without showing them visions of the future and therefore wanted to live his days alone on the streets where no one would touch him. Meanwhile Ward, now known as Hive, takes over a tech company, Transia, and tells Malik to kill the CEO of the company. Fitz realizes that the Transia building is where Charles is being held, when Andrew(Lash) shows up and turns himself in.

Since Andrew showed up right before the battle, Coulson makes May stay back so she can talk to Andrew. Andrew admitted to the group that he did not have long before Lash took over his body for good and wanted to see May before that happened. Daisy ends up going in her stead, even though she knows that her vision showed death and destruction if she were to show up. Malik ends up battling Daisy on the roof of the Transia building in the new exoskeleton that was given to him by Hive. Charles, also on the roof, gets killed by Malik, but gives Daisy a vision of the Quinjet in space before he passes.

Overall, I thought this episode was a lot of filler to try to raise the stakes between Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. Hydra continues to get stronger as S.H.I.E.L.D. is working hard to keep things from going out of control. Hydra seems to continually gain more and more power as S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be losing more and more of theirs. It will be interesting to see how Coulson deals with Hive in the next few episodes. Coulson knew that he had killed Ward so I am sure that seeing him back alive and with so much power will be a hard pill to swallow. Things should be getting even more interesting as we get closer to the end of the season and S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra get even more determined to take the other group out!
