Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Laws of Nature”

Hello again everyone! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back this week and starts off with a bang. The episode starts with an inhuman who is able to melt any sort of metal that he touches. Naturally, this causes issues and there is a mysterious group that comes after the man to try to catch him. Daisy and the other agents swoop in and save the man from the mysterious group and take him back to headquarters to try to get him some help with his powers, even against his wishes. Daisy does her best to convince him that things will work out, but to no avail. Mack and Daisy go to try to get Lincoln to join their crew to tell the metal man, Joey, the mechanics behind what is happening to him, but Lincoln refuses to join their cause.

The mysterious group seems to be taking the inhumans and killing them in order to try to see what is inside of them that is making them special. Obviously, this sort of thing does not sit well with S.H.I.E.L.D. and they make it their mission to try to protect these people. Coulson figures out that the leader of this group is a woman by the name of Rosalind Price and he confronts her to see what the goals of the group really are. While Coulson is doing that, Bobbi is stuck on the sidelines in the lab after risking her life last season while Fitz is traveling around the world seeking answers for what happened to Simmons. Rosalind reveals to Coulson that it is her job to eliminate the threat that inhumans pose to the rest of humanity by killing them.

While Daisy and Mack are at the hospital with Lincoln, an extremely powerful figure shows up looking for Lincoln. The figure’s name is Lash and we are not really told why he has randomly shown up, other than that he is looking for Lincoln. A fight ensues and Lash disappears. Meanwhile, it turns out that Rosalind is a member of the Advanced Threat Containment Unit(ATCU). This group was put together by the President to eliminate the threat of inhumans. The end scene of this episode gives us a small glimpse into what has happened to Simmons.

Overall, I thought that was a pretty good start to a new season. S.H.I.E.L.D. has gotten really good at not taking things too slowly so that the episodes rarely feel draggy and overlong. There was plenty of action and things are already getting set up to make it seem like this season is going to be really intense! I am excited to see what Lash is all about, how the team deals with ATCU, what happened to Agent May, and how Grant Ward is doing with HYDRA.
