Review – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “S.O.S” (Beware: Season Finale Spoilers!)

The finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was PACKED with tons going on throughout the entire thing. Since it was a two-hour finale, and it would probably take a lot more than a few paragraphs to cover everything, I am going to try to just come some of the major plot points during the episode. Let’s start with the happenings of the Inhumans during the episode. First off, Jaiying has started a war with S.H.I.E.L.D. and uses any means necessary, including destroying a building in Afterlife and murdering whomever she deems fit, to try to take control of the world so that the Inhumans can be free. She has many of the other Inhumans helping her to take over the boat and headquarters that S.H.I.E.L.D. is stationed at. However, she does not count on Skye, Cal, and even Lincoln turning to the other side because of her brash actions. She pays dearly for the consequences of her actions after she shows her true colors when she takes the crystals and tries to destroy all of human life with them. It only takes a little bit for Skye to realize what is going on, a little too late for Raina, but when she does she takes control of the situation. In the end, Skye is able to take care of the Inhumans, including Lincoln, while Cal is able to finally be a normal human once again.

On the human side of the things, Ward and Agent 33 have taken Bobbi in order to get her to apologize for the past where Agent 33 feels wronged. The two put Bobbi through a hellish ordeal of torture in order to try to get her to admit that she did something wrong and end up even threatening Hunter to get her to speak. Unfortunately for them, Bobbi does not like to be pinned down so she, along with help from Hunter and May, is able to take Agent 33 out. This makes Ward incredibly unhappy, obviously, and the viewers see him getting ready to take revenge when the new season starts again. At the end o the episode, Hunter and Bobbi are working at patching things up while May takes a much-needed break from the fighting.

Coulson and the rest of the team are trying to work toward making sure that Jaiying is not able to get her way. Coulson gets to have a fight scene with Cal in which he almost loses his life, but he manages to break through to Cal. He works with the others to get Jaiying out of the picture and is able to take back some control of S.H.I.E.L.D. once again. Fitz and Simmons fight alongside Mack and the others to try to get things on the boat and at HQ back under control. Mack decided that coming back to S.H.I.E.L.D. when they needed him most was a good idea and he is rewarded with a high-ranking position in the group because of it. Fitz and Simmons still manage to have some awkward moments of tension where we are not completely sure whether they are going to breach the friend zone and become something more and when it looks like they may actually be going out together, Simmons is unexpectedly pulled away into the unknown.

I can only guess that Ward’s revenge, Simmons disappearance, and the missing crystal at the bottom of the ocean are going to be MAJOR focal points of next year’s season and I am excited to see where this show is going. If it is anything like the last two seasons, it will probably start out a little slow in order to set up certain events and then end with a bang. I highly suggest if you have not gotten into this show yet to give it a shot. Be warned that as I said above it does have moments where it feels a little slow but the payoff is worth it in the end. I know I could not have covered everything that happened in this episode so check it out for yourself! Check out both Gotham and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and feel free to let me know what you personally think of both these shows!
