Review – Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: “Afterlife”

This week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was another good one, in my opinion. Skye got taken to a place called Afterlife where she is surrounded by other people with powers and those who are hoping to get chosen in order to potentially get their own powers. Here, unbeknownst to Skye, Skye’s mother is working to try to protect her and the other people who are in danger of being captured for their powers. There is no mention of where exactly this Afterlife is located, or how the others will find Skye, but I am sure it will be coming to a head in future episodes.

Meanwhile, Coulson and Hunter are trying to stay under the main S.H.I.E.L.D’s radar and trying to figure out where Skye is in the process. Things look bad for the pair as the episode goes on, but, of course, Coulson has a backup plan to help him and Hunter figure out the next move to make. At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Bobbi and Mack, along with the Robert Gonzalez, are trying to get Fitz, Simmons, and Agent May on board to get Coulson brought in so they can get S.H.I.E.L.D. “back on track”. It seems at though the three are not entirely convinced that they want to betray Coulson for an old version of their former group.

Overall, I, again, really like this episode. The pacing was good between the scenes at Afterlife and the scenes with the current and former S.H.I.E.L.D. I am curious to see what happens with Skye in this afterlife area and what choice Agent May makes. Mostly, though, I am excited to see Agent Ward coming back in the next episode. He is definitely one character I love to hate!
