This week’s episode of Agents of Shield entitled “A Hen in the Wolf House” was my favorite episode so far this season. Without giving away too much, Simmons was finally rescued from her role as playing a double agent from a newly introduced character, Agent Bobbi Morse. Her character kicked so much butt in this episode and was an awesome addition to the team. I loved seeing a new female character introduced that has close to the same level of ability with hand to hand combat as Agent May. In this episode, we also got a closer look at Skye’s father and how utterly terrifying he can truly be. I think Skye sums it up best when she says, “He’s a monster.” I am curious to see how exactly his new alliance of sorts with a familiar villain will go as the season progresses. The final big part of the show, besides Skye learning of her father’s identity, was the reunion between Fitz and Simmons. Seeing if Fitz will get better faster with Simmons back in the picture will be interesting to see.
I can truly say that I am more excited about this show than I was at any point last season. It has definitely taken the things that were most wrong about last season and turned them around to officially have hooked me back on the show. I cannot say that things are exactly how I would want them; I would still like to see more of Ward since was he was such a big character last season and is now only a source of information for Skye to yell at, and I would like to see more cool gadgets and such like the first season had. Overall, though, I love the direction this series has taken this time around and hope that it continues to improve as we get deeper into the season. Well done so far the second time around, Agents of Shield!
