What’s good, everyone? The answer to that question today is “EVERYTHING!” Joshua Evo here and I’m very happy to announce that Legendary Pictures has released the official main trailer for Godzilla! Before we get to that, a little summing up of recent events that lead up to the release of this trailer. On February 20th, 2014 an image of the new movie poster was released online and subsequently went viral. If you’ve not seen it, check it out below.
It’s a fantastic (and slightly alarming, as I work in San Francisco) image, and it offers a bit of a peek on this take on the King of the Monsters. Quick to add fuel to the fire, an email was then sent out to members of the Legendary Pictures mailing list. The email contained a link to a Soundcloud page that played Godzilla’s new roar. You can check out the link HERE and a picture of the email below:
Almost right after that, a tweet went out from the official Twitter, @GodzillaMovie that got every fan and follower completely hyped.
I personally couldn’t wait and was literally chomping at the bit and could not WAIT to get into work in time to see this trailer. At 10:00 AM PST on February 25, 2014, it played for the first time and the consensus was largely positive and optimistic. Oh, I’m sorry. Where ARE my manners? For those of you who have not yet partaken in its awesomeness, here it is:
I’m on close to my 40th viewing of it and I still can’t get enough. The trailer seems to eased a lot of people’s doubts about the film’s potential and replaced it with a more optimistic view. There are of course, topics that have endless debate, such as Godzilla’s design and roar, but these are tantamount to debating about which actor was the best James Bond. Everyone’s got an opinion on it and almost NO one agrees, but it provides the kind of healthy discussions that make a great fandom.
What I would like to do right now is post a few screen caps from the trailer that struck me as particularly interesting. If you saw something there worth a mention, do please put it in the comments:
Godzilla, produced by Legendary Pictures, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olson, Juliet Binoche, Sally Hawkins, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston will be released in theaters on May 16th, 2014. Don’t know about you guys, but I’m not missing this one for anything.
